IBM sold off their entire hard-disk division to Hitachi (which a few years ago sold it off to WD).

The Hitachi version is interesting because it incorporates the behaviour one expects from standard elevators, at the cost of some speed.

Lots of companies span large numbers of only tangentially-related verticals-- go take a look at Hitachi or Sony or Samsung, for example.

But of the four, only Hitachi actually shipped a machine with BeOS pre-installed.
