Is the advantage of pinot that it is not as strict on data format as Druid (which requires json/delimited)...?

The post says Pulsar can use Druid as a metrics store, so that workload should be doable.

This is a complex event processing engine, which would store its stuff in druid.

I'm going to just throw this out here because Druid deserves some love.

In terms of storage format, Druid enforces bitmap indexing and the Pinot docs appear to indicate that they have multiple types of indexes available, which is pretty cool.

I finally got my druid to level 80, and now entering the Cataclysm expansion it quickly shows how much has changed from each iteration of the game.

Most of the use cases where I've seen Druid used are scanning and aggregating billions of rows per query, in that world it requires a bit more hardware to achieve thousands of queries per second.

I mean of the type "here's a warrior, a druid, and a warlock, find us something to do that can't just be googled".

Druid is "only" a real-time data storage for events and fast aggregation.

The entire community behind Druid, especially cheddar, deserves a crate of beer:) You've all made my life so much easier.

It is curious why the team choose to rebuild the architecture versus just using Druid.

We also don't have integration with R, nor documentation that's as extensive as Druid's.
