I might have thought it was cool if I had gone in expecting bands, but expecting actual thread, and seeing bands was a let down.

People associate it with melodic stuff like Killswitch Engage, but in reality the first generation of metalcore bands were more like crossover thrash, bands like Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front.
