I also consider the Volt to be a serious attempt to win the market, but it's not a fully electric vehicle.

You're thinking "Bolt" which is not really meant to be the successor to Volt, because it's a full EV and doesn't have a range extender.

There are more than eight 0.1 volt steps between 0.6 and 1.5 volts, so, in grossly simplified terms, the Batteriser can extend operational battery life somewhere around a factor of eight."...

I think they're being intentionally misleading - and counting on the "dumb masses" to not understand that - so they can claim that 8x improvement, since it comes entirely from the also-misleading "more than eight 0.1 volt steps between 0.6 and 1.5 volts" statement.

Volt is the range-extender, and it doesn't come near that (for battery mileage).

The Volt's trunk volume is only about 10ft^3, whereas the Tesla has 26ft^3 in the trunk and another 5 or so in the front.
