The imprisonment of Loki is an extremely important aspect of the mythology of Loki which should not be ignored in attempting to find modern analogues.

The GC route was pretty easy and minimal pain, while Boost and Loki were moving targets.

Maybe Loki could be extended with a snapshot+operation_log type of data storage like Redis has and then it'd be pretty close.
