The odd thing about this entire kerfuffle is that other Gawker network writers argue that the story should have stayed because of journalistic integrity.

Worse still, the typical #GamerGate poster is so consistently well-behaved that opposing commentators have relied on false-flag campaigns, one famously by a Gawker Media employee.

The gawker story appears to have nothing in common at all.

Maybe we're ready for that conversation: there's the whole Gawker thing, for instance, and there are many levels to that story (like unionization).

For someone that has followed Gawker for many years now it is becoming increasingly likely that Nick Denton is using Gawker to scare/blackmail other companies to do his bidding.

Because some of the people involved in the breaches of ethics surrounding media sites like Gawker-run Kotaku were "feminists", and as a result of the association of feminism as an ideology with women as a people: some people can't help but see #GamerGate as an affront to women because "feminists" are involved in the controversy, and on the other side.

A) you can't take something back on the Internet, you can only discuss and move on from it, and B) Denton isn't sorry for posting, and his tone amounts to "I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids." Ever since Gizmodo got kicked out of CES for drunken stupidity I have not respected Gawker.

Gawker has always had periods of intense criticisms of some company (Google for example) that start and end suddenly without rhyme or reason.

Gawker et al are competing for the first market, not the second.

Gawker's response to this controversy demonstrates that they are amoral.
