gambas

I don't know much about Gambas but it seems it is Linux only whereas Xojo is cross platform.

On Linux there is Gambas [1] wich is like Lazarus but for Basic.

I remember two instant-games environments - Gambas and Löve2d, but there should be much more now.

There's also VB equivalents like gambas or xojo.

I'm sure it doesn't help that everything else is so expensive (housing), making these hail mary gambas more attractive, but the money will dry up regardless.

These days you've got Gambas for a free and open source VB, including the terrible language, but in my experience the looks are a bit off when you design on one desktop environment and run the application on another.

In both sound and musical capabilities, it seems like it shares a lot with the viola da gamba, especially as they both compare to modern stringed instruments; gambas, being fretted, can't achieve vibrato in the same way that modern strings can, and so depend a lot more on ornaments (trills, mordents, etc.) for emphasis.

It would be fun to pair this with Gambas[0], a free VB6 clone that works with GTK.

Gambas is a modern, open source Visual Basic dialect in the style of VB Classic.

Gambas and Lazarus were not around back then.
