It seems to have mostly passed now that even economical cars like the Cruze are posting stellar results.

Looking at pictures online the Chevy cruze doesn't seem like a bigger/heavier car than a Passat, so what gives??

Something normal like the Chevy Cruze EV would be quite appealing to me at that price.

Ironically both the Cruze and Focus have both been discontinued for several years now.

Second, I'd expect Cruze to at least have civil liability if their cars glitch and brake spontaneously, resulting in an accident.

Maybe Cruze having to come out and repair totalled cars every time they block an emergency scene, might get them to do something about it.

Note that the cruze turbo diesel gets 46 MPG highway.
