To see the number 37 and the word Copenhagen in one headline, makes me think I should get real.

There is a lot of people who live in Greater Copenhagen (Cph and cities around it) and commute to the centre by S-trains.

After living in Copenhagen for 1,5 years I think I can add some info to this.

So, what Copenhagen really needs is a decent bike sharing system.

Let's just say that the overwhelming majority of the people I see biking in Copenhagen don't seem to enjoy it very much.

The images most of us see from Copenhagen or Amsterdam are filled with families in bakfiets and beautiful people dressed to the 9s on their city bikes.

Maybe that is Chomsky's concern, even though this instrumentalist attitude is far from new or unknown (think of Copenhagen (lack of) interpretation of quantum mechanics, and its (in)famous motto: "Shut up and calculate"!) If you are interested in this line of reasoning, I found David Deutsch ("The beginning of infinity") and Karl Popper ("Conjectures and Refutations") two passionate (and opinionated) voices!

Maybe it won't work for as many people as in Copenhagen, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work and wouldn't work for a lot more people than presently.

Copenhagen is a completely flat city which also encourages biking, but yeah, the car tax is probably the biggest reason.

I wonder how they handle bicycle parking in Copenhagen, because that's a real problem in most Dutch cities.
