As I mentioned, that thread is now broken as far as EVs go, with the Changan JV making EVs for Mazda.

I drove a Changan Uni-T there and it was not an EV and handled like a boat but a very serviceable car.

I drove a couple of Changan cars and they weren’t even as nice as my Subaru in terms of handling but they functioned well as cars.

Now they have to rely on their JV partner Changan to lead the way in producing EVs, giving up the core structural strengths that Mazda previously had in designing and building their own components - including software and controls, which in the Changan-led models have no continuity at all with Mazda's domestic models.

Chinese turbocharger suppliers have lower labor costs and therefore BYD, Changan, Great Wall and others have more pricing power vs GM and Ford products.

The only Ford sedan I’m aware of in production anywhere is the Chinese-market Ford Mondeo built in a joint venture with Changan.

Ford was with Mazda in China with a joint venture with a Chinese company (as required): Changan, and they were building those shared Ford/Mazda platform vehicles there.

And even within China, it's basically Geely and Changan.

Changan Ford/Mazda got split in their respective halves.

Since this main theater of the massacre was by and large well covered by the foreign news media, we will focus here on some lesser-known aspects of the action along western Changan and Fuxingmen subsequently dubbed "Blood Boulevard" by the people of Beijing.

The amount of money spent to subsidize EV cars made by GAG, FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, Chery, JAC, etc that most Chinese buyers just don't think about for EVs when they can buy a BYD is staggering, and could be better used by the prefectures I listed to better living standards or further increase consumer spending via DBTs or a better welfare system (which itself has been devolved to prefectures since the 90s).
