It's nearly universally agreed among auto-journos that the current Mazda 6 may just be the best looking full-sized sedan...well...ever.

That's like calling Mazda products dumbed down because they only sell a handful of cars.

I have a Mazda 3, which didn't have the fuel computer display (shows you remaining mileage, current mpg etc).

When I took it for a test drive it felt very similar to the Mazda I drive for work.

It feels far more like a basic Mazda than a Mercedes, LandRover etc.

Even if Toyota went away, it wouldn't be so hard to just go and buy a Mazda or whatever and drive that around.

What is it that prevents Toyota and Mazda from selling those diesel cars when most manufacturers are already selling pickups with large diesels?

I've been waiting for years now for Mazda or Subaru to bring one of their diesel cars to Canada.

Car makers like Toyota, Mazda and the like all make diesel versions of the same cars-- they sell them in the UK and Australia.

For the record i was not switching types of cars - previous cars where pontiac G6, Chevy Malibu, Mazda 3, all similarly sized/priced cars.

The reason we can't get Diesels is the environmentalist "anti-smog" campaigns of the 70s and 80s, produced emissions standards that prevent Mazda from just importing that car they sell freely in the UK.

As someone familiar with Mazda's (incomplete) Wankel, that sentence reads more like marketing speak and is nearly meaningless.

Mazda rotary engines are designed with oil injection to lubricate the seals - they are designed to consume oil.

Mazda is has been trying to get their Mazda3 Diesel version imported to the USA for a couple years.
