Aozora Bunko does receive new public domain works, but only ones whose copyrights had already expired by 2018.

As someone who is trying to use Aozora Bunko to get practice material for learning japanese, this saddens me.

I think the AGI risk stuff is bunko and the original AI ethics cheerleaders ruined their own field.

I recommend turning the characters that Aozora Bunko represents using image files into the corresponding Unicode.

The very "easiest" books are kinda boring, but it is certainly easier finding usable material in that list than looking in Aozora Bunko itself.

There's a lot of bunko 3rd-time-rephrased "wisdom" about AI, and enough interest in it that if you have the right title, you can get away with repeating it.

I actually built a proof-of-concept of a "Books" tab in Nihongo using Aozora Bunko, but I found it sort of unsatisfying, so I never pursued it further.

While you're at it, buy a copy of Johnny Bunko.
