It's like saying in biathlon (skiing+shooting) how can you arrive at the finish second if you have a working gun?

A world class marathon runner needs serious endurance like a world class biathlon athlete, but they don’t need very good vision.

I can only assume that OP is unaware that the biathlon combines high endurance cross-country skiing with target shooting.

It seems to me that biathlon is one of the few sports that has truly deep and historic roots with the human condition.

If I had too much money I have dreamed of pentathlon that is combining triathlon and biathlon.

Ski jumping was fun, too, and I think I was a horrible shooter in biathlon.

But there’s probably also lots of doping in other appropriate sports - running has plenty of history, swimming, biathlon, cross-country skiing, etc.

What happens more often, a biathlon, or a school shooting?

Nitpick: "actual weightlifting" is the biathlon, contested at the Olympics and elsewhere, consisting of the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.
