atmos

The Atmos is the second machine I learned how to code on.

As in Boston, the atmos of the Bay Area is probably the main reason the universities here are so good.

The atmos in the Bay Area is part of the reason SV is where it is.

Anyone know of any efforts to do that - my Oric Atmos sessions would definitely benefit!

I'm working on an audio codec that's light years ahead of Dolby Atmos and DTS X.

It was the first Atmos movie, so I've just assumed that the downmix to 7.1 and 5.1 is equally as good.

For those wondering about buying one: a used, working Atmos is in the $1k range and a new one (JLC still make them) is ~$6k.

I currently wish streaming services will implement Dolby Atmos which is 3D sound.

Its a bit like my Oric Telestrat, which was an upgrade to the Oric-1 -> Atmos machines, in that it gave a full 64k and had expansion options.

I have a collection of old systems, and I've been able to keep my oldest - a 30 year old Oric Atmos - alive quite easily, while teaching myself a bit of electronics to boot.

Clippy could pop up: "I can see you would like to release an extra ton of carbon into the atmos, why not upgrade word now!"

And the "atmos" of Boston is why the high-tech hub around route 128 is where it is, having of course nothing to do with its proximity to a couple of world-class universities...

SF is a fun place to live for people of a certain age, but as the better known city in a large metropolitan region it gets far more credit than it deserves for the "atmos" that gives the region its flavor.

If you've got the druthers, you can get a really nice taste for my favourite 8-bit machine from that era, the Oric-1/Atmos.

By the way, my favourite emulator is Oriculator, which emulates the Oric-1/Atmos/Telestrat/Pravetz 8-bit machines that never had much of a chance in the 80's..

On the subject of this game, a truly classic precursor to the platform world we know now, it was recently remade for the Oric-1/Atmos machines.
