In fact the battle of El Alamein where Rommel was severely pushed back was well underway when Patton landed.

Perhaps, but El Alamein was what Churchill was discussing in his speech from which that quote comes.

If the next Battlefield game included Nazi-mode where you get to re-enact El Alamein from Rommel’s perspective, then it could be viewed as an interesting exercise in alt-history.

Things went pretty badly for the Allies for the first few year, then: Battle of Midway - June 1942 Allied Victory at El Alamein - November 1942 German surrender at Stalingrad - February 1943 It was all downhill for the Axis powers after that.
