ageism

I have a very limited perspective, but come from a country where the ageism is reversed.

It's easy to write this off with bigotry or ageism, but that doesn't bring us closer to the truth.

Does anyone outside of SV/startups actually find this ageism nonsense to be anything but a convenient story?

Many people seem to have problems fairly early in their tech careers, with rampant ageism etc.

Do you suppose that this might be related to the oft-discussed-on-HN ageism that the Silicon Valley-based industry is accused of?

And, of course, much of the ageism and sexism is unintentional but still exclusionary.

I don't think Scrum and open-plan were devised with ageism in mind, but they contribute massively to the attrition.

In my experience I find there is a huge ageism issue in the IT sector.

Then let's consider accusations of sexism, racism, ageism.

For people who are solid contributors and not "management material", this looks a lot like ageism, but technically maybe isn't.

It's companies that hire based on the looks like/plays like that give "cultural fit" a bad name (ageism, discrimination, sexism, etc.).

I'd say "immature" but that's ageism, I'm surely double her age.

Ageism wasn't the only reason I posted this, but I'm guessing nobody that downvoted me was older than me.

Ageism works against the young as well as the old.
