The jizya (tax on non-Muslims) was a higher fee than the zakat (religious tax on Muslims).

I recommend you look into Islam's Zakat system for something that actually works, and is fair across the board.

Secondly, Zakat can be sometimes higher than the Tax paid by non-Muslims.

If they were paying the jizya then they weren't paying the zakat.

In Islam we have something called Zakat which is effectively donating 2.5% of your wealth yearly to the most impoverished people.

Islam has a 2.5% Zakat contribution amount for money, yet Islamic countries were very prosperous until colonization started post WWI, which continues to this day.

Look up dhimma, look up devshirme, look up zakat, look up the racist conditions of halal meat, those things are morally reprehensible.

As more and more non-Arabs started to embrace Islam, the Umayyads were getting less and less tax revenue because the new Muslims were playing zakat instead of jizya.

That is why no muslim needs to feel guilty about the wealth they have inherited or earned provided it is done through honest means, without hurting others, and they also follow the Islamic obligations of Zakat (charity).

The "10% of lifetime income to charity" pledge is pretty close to Christian tithing, Islamic zakat, and suchlike.

So ignorant to call them "tax base", when in actuality, Zakat that Muslims pay is much much more than the Jizya that Dhimmis pay.

From prohibiting interest, to having a built in "wealth tax" (Zakat), to prohibition of selling what you don't own, to no gambling, etc.

With regards to the latter, the mandatory Muslim wealth tax (zakat) names stranded or poor travellers "in pursuit of a worthy goal" as one of the eight categories of people it can be distributed to.

It's not novel, by any means, as you can see Islam advocating similar with Zakat!

Muslims have an obligatory charity called Zakat, 2.5% of your standing wealth (if you meet the threshold) directly goes to the poor.

Zakat’s also a great model and the principles behind it are sound too, I think regardless of one’s faith or tradition.
