touchpads

The Macs still ahve great touchpads and the OS is preferred by some, but it's hard for that to be the only thing going for you.

Windows touchpads are usually all over the place in my experience, mostly due to drivers/windows' poor touchpad support.

The trackpad or driver is garbage compared to Apple's touchpads, and screen corruption on boot is unacceptable.

Windows won't have an as-nice-as-OS-X experience with touchpads until GDI+ is either overhauled or dead and buried.

I'm the first to admit that my hand-eye coordination on touchpads sucks, but my finger has a tendency to move when clicking on those Apple style, pivoting touchpads.

The dedicated clicking buttons of older models worked perfectly well and Apple laptops have wonderful touchpads.

Of course, the pixel is also just an excuse to push parts and system manufacturers so that high-quality screens, keyboards and touchpads may trickle down into the regular chromebook market.

But the laptop world seems to have standardized on touchpads and Apple's are phenomenal.

Hence seeing the technology in iPhone multitouch, gestures, recently in touchpads and now mouse.

If I had a t440p, I would buy one of the touchpads, with buttons and install it.

Many modern touchpads support multitouch in hardware but it's disabled in drivers [1].

I feel touchpads and mobile keyboards are both not handy to communicate with bash/vim in the subway.

Thanks for the remarkable post - one question, "the fundamental problem with it that you can't get around is that it's a relative positioning device, not an absolute positioning device like a mouse." - it seems to me that touchpads, mice, and trackpoint nubs are all relative positioning devices.
