When it comes to predictions like snow storms, hurricanes and tornadoes, you obviously want to favor false-positives.

They just need to hold out until there's finally - after a few decades - an uptick in temperatures, hurricanes, or tornadoes.

The good news is that at least Tornadoes come with plenty of warning (visible, audible, TV, radio, etc.).

Native midwesterners (I grew up in central Illinois, in a nasty tornado alley) take tornadoes seriously.

And, of course, there are tornadoes, which they don't have in California.

That always seemed like a bad idea to me because we had tornadoes...

However, almost everyone had a storm shelter -- typically a cellar dug in the side of a hill (they get a lot of powerful thunderstorms and tornadoes).

I doubt hail storms would be a problem, but tornadoes are another story.

I've occasionally wondered if people in the south aren't more religious because the weather (the south has thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, the bay area has… lots of sun.) isn't literally putting the fear of God in them.

Tornadoes and hurricanes would be much less of an issue throughout much of the US, at least.

Tornadoes are hot human beings, they are weather phenomena.

Tornadoes trash a few every now and then.
