sauteed

Made some spaghetti last night, with sauteed onions and mushrooms, with olive oil as sauce.

That technique also expands to onion rings, sauteed onions and such.

If I'd sauteed the veggies in a tablespoon of oil or a cup of oil you wouldn't be able to tell.

You really can't imagine a salad with sauteed/grilled mushrooms in it; with some chopped strawberries mixed in it for a pop of sweetness and acidity?

I especially like the ones made with shrimp (belacan/shrimp paste), which are a standard condiment for sauteed vegetables here in my part of Asia.

My fav thing to eat in Spain for breakfast are the small clams called almejas, sauteed in Manzanilla, with some crusty bread to soak up the boozy clam juice.

Then I sauteed a diced onion with some leftover mushrooms (that also would have gone bad), chopped celery ends my kids didn't eat from their Ants on a Log, then made a little roux.

A couple of my favorite meals: Roast salmon with a raita-like sauce, sometimes with pesto pasta; whole roast chicken with potatoes in the same pan; pork chops with sauteed onions and Golden Delicious apples; steak with mushrooms and onions; risotto.

Last time I made chicken sauteed in butter, each step was easy enough, but suddenly they have to be done in parallel and the sauce has to be done before the chicken and the potatoes need to be ready at the same time and everything has to happen fast...

What annoys me most about the show (even the BBC version) is that personnel changes never seem to be on the docket --- you have people that clearly shouldn't running a kitchen, and at the end of the episode there they are, plating Ramsay's sauteed skate wing.
