I don't dislike all strange music - Satie and Poulenc are some of my favorites.

Idk about the rest, but Satie was like 30+ years older than Poulenc, and died a few years after Poulenc's first composition.

His friends included Debusy, Ravel, Poulenc, Man Ray, and the list goes on.

Satie's music definitely influenced Poulenc's, a lot.

I really like his style of music (also Poulenc).

I used to play a choral piece by Poulenc (“O Magnum Mysterium”) with a swung jazz rhythm and it takes a very different character when you do that (see also countless jazz reinterpretations of Beatles and other pop songs).
