A billion plus a million is easy, it is similar as an orange plus a pear.

You are never going to starve or have to do without medical care even if it all goes pear-shaped.

But in limited areas, where the win is great and they are explicitly called out as portability hazards, with alternate implementations of the areas in case the lock-free stuff goes pear-shaped.

But there's always an outside chance that everything's fine at the point you start writing a response, but goes pear-shaped before you finish.

You have no basis for assuming that the market will also pay $2 per apple or pear, but you need a nice round number to shout out to the world.
