It says I'm sharing 1 Orkut photo album with the world, I've never used Orkut.

About the time Facebook was catching up here in Brazil(about 2009/2010), Orkut had years ahead of social networking history..

That said, my experience with Orkut is that it's next to trivial to end up with a bazillion friends.

I started scripting when I was 14 to increase the number of scraps and testimonials in my Orkut scrapbook.

Only a few years ago many people checked myspace, friendster, orkut, etc everyday.

Until quite recently, many different countries had different popular social networks, including Vkontakte (Russia), Orkut (Brazil), Hi5 (Peru) and so on.

MySpace and Orkut both had over 100M users and failed, but it was because of neglect by their corporate owners, not a failure to monetize.

Ever since Orkut I just assume it is a scheme to make it look cool.

You know Orkut had every reason for not failing.

In my experience using things like facebook, twitter, (g+, orkut, friendster, etc), has more potential negatives than positives.

I mean everybody was on Orkut seeing the Internet penetration at that time (at least in my part of the world) and Orkutting was the thing - for us there was no Twitter, no Instagram, no MySpace, traces of Friendster, but just Orkut.

One of the annoying things about Orkut was that most people used to change their name to something hippie and it became very hard to identify them when they messaged (scrap?) me.

In regard to social networking, I think the author means "Don't build a generic social network (Facebook, MySpace, Orkut, Friendster, etc)" We have enough of those, and I think Social Booth doesn't really fit in to that category.

Buzz, Orkut, Google Glass (not that much penetrate in market) Hope Google will get some awesome minds now.

You've probably not heard of Orkut, but if you are Brazilian you have.

Beside that, anyone remember their older social hubs Google Buzz and Orkut?
