Encoding every single edge-case into the optimizer is not as good as finding better generalizations, automatically.

Query optimizers can do that much better, and there is decades of research on how to optimizer relational queries (including Datalog queries -- see Deductive Databases).

I'm not talking about a way to trick the optimizer, I'm talking about a way to make an optimizer and a forced memory access coexist in a super-easy fashion, by very slightly altering the compiler.
