Maybe focusing on only the drivers needed to make it run well in VMware or openbox would improve the usability story.

I run xterm in openbox, with specific placements (geometry setting) for a specific xterm window session.

Went back to openbox half for nostalgia and half to try out the desktop/menu config of somebody who'd configured it twice as intuitively as I'd always hoped to have and was disgusted by the overuse of the mouse when I used to believe openbox was keyboardcentric.

ArchLinux[0] with no desktop environment and openbox[1] as the window manager with a few custom keyboard shortcuts to launch every day use applications (xterm, sublime text, internet browser, bashrun2[2] (an application launcher)).

That's how I know you've never actually used Crunchbang; it's a lot more than "Debian with Openbox".

Corenominal's scripts, layout, app choices, tweaks, and other modifications are more than enough for it to qualify as a standalone Debian-based distro, rather than "Debian with Openbox".

So everytime I switch between indoor/outdoor I do a ":mksession!|quit", followed by alt+f4 to close the xterm window and then hit the openbox menu to reopen the just closed xterm window with the new background color, and resume my vim session with the color scheme adapted to the current background color.

It's what made me briefly use Fluxbox/Openbox distro's just to avoid the complexity.

I chose it over Openbox/Crunchbang specifically because I wanted something I didn't have to think about.

Since Crunchbang uses the Debian repos, can I somehow get onto a Debian/Openbox etc.
