nvim

I just had to cp everything vim to nvim (.vim ->.nvim,.vimrc ->.nvimrc, etc).

Tried to build it, seems the build is broken: error: could not find native static library `nvim`, perhaps an -L flag is missing?

Plugins aren't installed until you call:PlugInstall You can also use.nvimrc instead.vimrc, so only nvim instance on server gets plugins.

There's guaranteed to be some sort of context-sensitive man plugin for vim &| nvim for shell scripts.

There's even vim and nvim plugins to bring that to them too without leaving the terminal.

There are some slight differences in cursor behavior between vim and nvim but I got used to it.

You make a good point, and maybe nvim's decision to open up plugin languages will come back to bite it in the ass.

Otherwise I'm still using vundle and have made 0 changes in my.vimrc other than move it all to.nvim and.nvimrc.

Also, have never heard of nvi, whereas nvim seems like it's going places.

Unfortunately, Tmux still doesn't support true-color, which nvim added recently.

These plugins may eventually control things like the GUIs, spell checkers, syntax analysers, allowing nvim to become more focused, like a micro-kernel.

Someday 'vi' might symlink to 'nvim' instead of 'vim'.
