Plugins aren't installed until you call:PlugInstall You can also use.nvimrc instead.vimrc, so only nvim instance on server gets plugins.

And you don't need to edit your.vimrc/.nvimrc nor does it force any settings on you.

When 'exrc' is enabled and a.nvimrc or.nvim.lua file is found in the current directory, Neovim will ask the user if the file is trusted (with the ability to first view the file).

Otherwise I'm still using vundle and have made 0 changes in my.vimrc other than move it all to.nvim and.nvimrc.

I suspect most users could download neovim, symlink their.vimrc/.nvimrc, alias vim=nvim and not be able to tell the difference.

They're addressing all the hardcoded parts so it should be possible to make any of these with an addon / some nvimrc magic.

There's only one.nvimrc to manage as opposed to also, tmux's file.

I did a `ls -s.vimrc.nvimrc` along with very few changes (like replacing Command-T with Command-P).

Vim (and thus Neovim) has had the 'exrc' option for a long time, which loads any.exrc or.vimrc (or in Neovim's case,.nvimrc) files in the current directory.

As a note, one does not symlink to `~/.nvimrc` anymore.

I just had to cp everything vim to nvim (.vim ->.nvim,.vimrc ->.nvimrc, etc).

But I haven't tried modifying the nvimrc or use plugins.

I've considered switching, but I'd have to move to a.nvimrc or something, update my install scripts and Ansible, etc., and I'm not sure what I'd gain from it other than "extensibility".
