Among various complaints: SF Muni is rarely on time and very slow, especially if you need to go east/west.

For every mile Muni runs a light-rail vehicle, it throws down $24.37; comparable rail services spend between $12 and $22.

Many uber/lyft rides inside of SF are cheaper than the cost of a muni trip.

Slow vehicle speeds force Muni to spend more money to provide less service.

Anyone on a bicycle can beat Muni in price, speed, and convenience.

All the same, I don't see how its responsive to the points about declining muni revenue or relatively minor impact on administrative overhead.

While some of this can be blamed on San Francisco's congestion and density, there are myriad methods of speeding up service other agencies have adopted that Muni hasn't.

Yes, IF the city (and surrounding region) made sweeping policy and infrastructure changes to improve muni, bart, park-and-ride etc, then less people would need to drive.

Otherwise, the relationship will be adversarial / nonexistent and the business will be finished unless it can legally skirt on a technicality (by moving just far enough out of the muni authority's jurisdiction).

Try to avoid finding a spot where your commute will be a sf muni and then a caltrain trip - the sf muni busses and light rail have very fickle schedules so often you're going to miss your caltrain connection, then have to wait a while for the next one.

I believe the "farebox recovery ratio" of Muni in San Francisco is ~20%.

"Wilson's muni broadband success story" is a fairy tale kept alive by credulous reporting.

Muni's lethargy is literally costing it millions.

But such behaviors are totally infuriating in places where there are many pedestrians, for example all of the stations on the SF Muni's T-Third line require passengers to push the button to cross the street after disembarking at center platforms.
