It's not the precursors, it's the freeze dried powder form of the drug plus an excipient, generally mannitol.

For Cystic Fibrosis, the FDA denied inhaled mannitol, a dry powder, due to lung bleeds in trials.

There aren't a lot of drugs that can treat the latter and reduce swelling, other than mannitol.

For capsules, with mannitol or whatever.

But I think that mannitol is more common now.

You can spot those because they end with "ol" - Mannitol, Sorbitol etc.

They note that "Placebo could be distinguished well from active substance and correctly identified in 96% of the sessions." The placebos were ethanol and mannitol, for LSD and Psilocybin respectively.

Mentos sugar free gum (since I have some handy) has xylitol, sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol, aspartame, acesulfame, sucralose and "sucrose fatty acid esthers" I seem to recall most xylitol gums also have aspartame, but Mentos is the only one I had handy to check.

Mannitol is literally a laxative if you're looking for an adverse reaction...

Mannitol, sorbitol, isomalt, maltitol, and lactitol will all give you horrible gas and diarrhea.
