If this had happened on the freeway during the 40-mile freeway drive I was about to do..yikes.

The fact that other things are more risky than stopping a car on the freeway, does not mean that it is not dangerous.

The reality is that as adults we live in a probability filled universe, will you die today on the Freeway driving to work?

IMO it doesn't increase the danger nearly as much as traffic patrol conducting a routine traffic stop on the freeway.

It seems to revolve around the fact that 'people commuting to work are more dangerous than 1 car stopping on the freeway'.

Here is an example: You're driving down the freeway at 90mph.

Driver: Hi, there was a vehicle travelling slowly on the freeway with its emergency flashers on, I had to switch lanes.

This happened momentarily several times while on a freeway.

Driver: Hi, someone on the freeway has purposefully disabled their vehicle in a location without shoulders, and is slowing while driving, impeding traffic.

For starters, it looks like they were contacted by Wired, not the researchers, so it's unclear whether they were contacted before the dangerous freeway demonstration took place.

If cops are comparable to semis baring down on the freeway then we need to abolish them completely because they are out of control.

I'm not saying the cop was right in any of the cases, but if I see a semi truck barreling down the freeway into oncoming traffic...

If a non-police officer driver does this, you wonder to yourself, "why is this guy up my ass?" This isn't some densely packed freeway, and he's 5-6 car lengths behind her.

If while in college and driving this vehicle you decided to film yourself, made it clear your were pretty certain the car was going to lose power, got onto a freeway, and when the car lost power said something to the effect of "oh shit, this is dangerous", then yes, you would be facing a lot of criticism right now too.
