In that timescale, it could likely be good old ephedrine.

Ephedra tea contains pseudoephedrine and ephedrine in potentially inconsistent amounts.

We can well imagine that an adrenaline shot, cocaine, ephedrine, and many other drugs could well "restore performance", but that doesn't indicate there was a deficit of those particular substances.

Ask any seasonal allergy sufferer, we all look to find out where the 24 hour pharmacies are so we can get access to the "good stuff" when sinus trouble inexplicably hits and you need the behind the counter pseudo-ephedrine to get through it.

I wasn't (and wasn't aware anyone would be crazy enough to put TSP inside their body ); I was just making the direct parallel: both ephedrine and TSP exist in an odd regulatory state where, although they can't be used as an ingredient in a compound product, they can be purchased OTC in a pure form and then "compounded" into those same products by the end-user.

Ephedrine is also a great natural stimulant, still consumed traditionally in China, Central and South Asia.

Ephedrine and dextroamphetamine are already better than coffee, in small dosages.

Ephedrine is also much safer than pseudoephedrine with fewer side effects.
