I'm not completely philosophically opposed to dubs, but the truth is that the vast majority of German dubs are awful.

The subs or dubs (France prefers dubs, right?) typically already exist.

Anyone who wants subtitles, or dubs, or a free rootkit, or whatever can use the existing sales channels.

That's why Germany, France and Spain like to dubs, but not smaller countries like the Netherlands or Scandinavian countries.

And medium sized countries like Poland often have really crappy dubs (sometimes one speaker for all characters).

Throw some dubs or spinnas on those bad boys, and they'd still look like dorks.

German dubs are so awful and widespread, that even porn in Germany is dubbed and often enough, even German porn is re-dubbed.

This is an odd complaint since all the DVDs have the choice of sub/dub, and Disney does a good job with the dubs.

Nobody that I know of in eastern Europe dubs their shows for television, we just caption them.

And if I watch stuff in English, I get it sooner than people who wait for the german dubs...

The only consistent exception to the poor English dubs has been Miyazaki.

They complain near the end that Disney dubs all the Ghibli films.

Specifically that he dubs his concept "Flow" when it's been more commonly known as "in the zone" for decades.

(Though they're still better than the dubs.) And a lot of it comes down to native English speakers who fear losing the intended nuances of the original and so do a rigidly literal translation, because they think that's the "most accurate." So the problem isn't nitpicking; it's the wrong kind of nitpicking.
