I write my slide content in Markdown, use pandoc to generate beamer slides as LaTeX files and then compile the beamer to PDF slides.

I use Beamer (LaTeX) a view with Adobe Acrobat or whatever is installed on the presentation laptop.

I don't like beamer (a latex package), but it the only viable slide show software for me.

I use it to create all my slides and have far more fun than with LaTeX beamer for that.

Not C++ but C, but I did get a basic port of my program info-beamer running in a few hours.

One GPS glitch and the thing might go full speed toward your face, or a kid on a bike, or the neighbors dog / beamer / house.

Handy and beamer are both English words as well (so many words), although I doubt one would confuse projector technology with cricket terms!

For example, I used to use Beamer export for presentations.

Handy for mobilephone, beamer for projector.

For the more professional presentations I tend to stick to beamer, but for a quick presentation the deckjs backend for asciidoctor allow for a very fast setup.

Compared to LaTeX, markdown markup is less obtrusive: Indeed, I use pandoc for making LaTeX beamer presentations and it generally provides the goodness of Markdown and LaTeX combined.

There are tasks I only do very rarely (burn a CD, use Gimp, tag some MP3s, use a VPN, hold a beamer presentation, etc).

A cell phone is a "Handy", a projector is a "Beamer", etc.

I like to generate my presentations with the LaTeX package "beamer", offering well-typeset symbols, text, and figures (through Tikz) that all fit together nicely.

I think they meant that "handy" is a slang word for mobile phone, as "beamer" is for projector.

I use it regularly again, with Plex and Beamer, its one of the most useful things I have connected.

Regarding the Power Point thing you might want to check out Beamer.

I usually go the LaTeX+Beamer route, since LaTeX is what I work with anyway and I usually need LaTeX's math typesetting.
