I gave it a picture of the Mahi Mahi and jambalaya I was having in a restaurant.

According to the numbers in the table, a dolphin costs 138 mahi-mahi.

Are you sure you didn't have dolphin fish AKA mahi mahi?

Mahi mahi type of dolphin, I buy it at Costco: it is good.

If you want an environmentally friendly wild fish, I'd recommend Mahi Mahi.

I'm keeping my eyes open for fresh wahoo and mahi (we always called it dolphin in Miami, but people everywhere else think flipper).

What would be hard is getting restaurants to stop acting like they have to trick customers into buying food they wouldn't voluntarily buy, like vegetarian burger == beef-based burger accompanied by vegetables, or as legend has it, mahi mahi that turns out to be dolphin fish (has gills) but people think it's the air-breathing, womb-having, mammal dolphin.

Commercial fisheries know this and are squeezing the last bits they can out of the pelagic fish we all expect on the dinner table (tuna, mahi, etc), but as you aptly point out, the majority of fisheries biomass is near the coast.

Clearly that is the medical code for being struck by a Mahi-mahi, which can reach nearly 60lbs and travel at speeds above 55mph.
