But I think you really need to have a stronger sense of your own value than Amar displayed.

With all due respect, Amar sold himself really badly in the emails shown.

IMO, Amar should've moved on to a company that would appreciate him.

When I read the article I found it funny that Amar was OK with working for free for a few months.

It sounds like people want to say either Amar is stupid or Vidyard are dicks, both had their own agenda and clearly sent each other messages about how they felt without necessarily directly saying it.

One good book that outlines the trade-offs is "The Origin and Evolution of New Business" by Amar Bhide that did a rigorous analysis of the Inc 500 companies.
