Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.

All belief systems are the same: communism, christianity, mohammedanism, buddhism, etc.

Obviously Uighurs have not "always been muslim" (aside from the obvious: the ethnic group is far, far older than mohammedanism).

Or, to use a less hypothetical example, it's like calling Muslims and Islam “Mohammedans” and “Mohammedanism”, respectively.

(Mohammedanism is the historical name for Islam) And do not take this as dissing islam, in fact pretty much every religion has slavery (in the sense of zero-compensation forced labour).
