There was a great talk by John Wilkes (Google Cluster Management) re: Omega in 2011 at Google Faculty Summit [1].

Note John Wilkes was generally careful about not saying the name was 'Borg' or acknowledging it as such and instead referred to 'Omega'.

Look at the contributions of people like John Backus, Edgar Codd or Maurice Wilkes and of course Kernighan and Ritchie, those people (to me) are worth far more respect.

Briefly, Google is in the process of open sourcing their internal container code [2], there was a Wired article that talked about their container orchestration system [3], and finally, there was John Wilkes (Google Cluster Management), who talks about the container management system [4].

Google's John Wilkes even does a talk, entitle "Cluster management at Google" [4], where he discusses the next generation of the orchestration engine.

And that's only looking at the character's own "choices." (Is it really a choice if you can't stop yourself from becoming John Wilkes Booth?) The cruelty inflicted by nature would be much greater.
