This does make me wonder why they cancelled the service of planes like the A-10 warthog.

And of course the ludicrous idea that the F-35 can replace the A-10 Warthog in combat.

Go watch one of those helicopter/drone/warthog strike video and listen to the guys talk.

I love the old warthog, but in the days of drones, I can't see much of a use anymore.

But here's a twist: I have read that aggressive A-10 Warthog pilots will do this a few hundred feet off the ground.

If you ask any soldier who's been in Iraq or Afghanistan what their favorite sound is, everyone will answer that it's the Warthog providing air support.

Warty Warthog happened to match my ideal environment out-of-the-box.

Not helping matters is the fact that the Lightning II (or as I like to call it, the Littoral Combat Ship of the Air) is at least as ugly in functionality as the Warthog is in looks.

We should ponder the possiblity of more efficient lower-tech non-drone options, like tree-howitzers, or maybe an A10 warthog with an acorn gun, or some sort of honey-clusters-of-nuts cluster-bomb type payload for a B-52.

I think we'll have the Warthog until after the ground troops are confident with the drones / remotely piloted craft.

I guess if I truly cared about my TLS keys, I should have made them on a copy of airgapped Warty Warthog and run them through a shitload of random analysis tools before shipping them off to be signed.

It produces almost five tons of recoil force, which is crazy considering that it’s mounted in a type of plane (the A-10 “Warthog”) whose two engines produce only four tons of thrust each.

As a kid thirty years ago, I probably put together five different plastic models of the A-10 Warthog.

This plane and it's described mission profile remind me of the A-10 Warthog...
