Can't speak to tech / science / art in the Visayan space.

I'm fluent in Visayan (Cebuano & Waray-Waray).

Most monkeys have gotten new accomodations last year I think and they're pretty involved in keeping Kunekune pigs from going almost extinct a second time and they're breeding Visayan Warty Pigs (which are absolutely amazing things, and critically endangered); I guess for a relatively provincial central European zoo with a limited budget, that's quite decent.

In an age where languages are dying with their last speakers, Visayan has done much to preserve their diversity -- although not a written/codified language, volunteers give radio broadcasts in the language, books are published in it (here the lack of codification shows by variance in spelling, verb conjugation, and sentence structure), and similar.

Also cool, Tongan and Samoan speakers found Visayan numbering mutually distinguishable -- "lima" for 5, for example.

In Visayan, 'Sa' is a general preposition, it is a kindness to add whether that is over/under/around/inside/far from/near from the object it references.

Here's one that I learned yesterday in Visayan: "Manginhas ta".
