Though Uranus is 15 Earth masses but it's quite far from the sun and is significantly composed of gas and ice.

This should be taken in consideration when setting deadlines: at least 3 months without deployment when Uranus and Neptune are aligned.

I keep hoping for a Cassini-like mission to Uranus and/or Neptune, but so far, no luck.

Both Uranus and Neptune have been visited only by Voyager 2.

Given our missions to Jupiter and Saturn in the last 20 years I wonder if we'll see a return trip to Uranus or Neptune.

Edit2: After watching the linked video, Uranus would be out, since Pluto is never close to it, but Neptune might work at some point in time when these planets are close.

That's what I meant with eccentric path though: As far as I know Pluto is not always that far out, there are points in time where it's closer to the sun than Neptune - which should be a good moment when either Uranus or Neptune could be used to aerobreak.

Scientifically, I can't say that Uranus is "better" than any other planet or Solar System body.

My "preference" for Uranus simply comes from the hours and hours I've spent trying to model dynamic processes in the system.

I guess the parameters were chosen by some curve fitting procedure to make sure it gives 1.0 for Earth, 0.7-ish for Mars, 0.2 for Uranus and Neptune which are basically the most "not like the others" in our solar system and so on.

Then some new evidence comes in (Uranus), and the theory is almost right, but not quite.

Uranus and Neptune are basically unstudied up close, compared to all the other planets.
