The Salix and Sei Boku have worked wonderfully for me on copier paper with no clogging/cleaning issues so far.

Is it that the Salix genus is more effective or are more genuses (geni?) also effective but just haven't been studied yet?

It's nice, but a bit higher maintenance than the Salix / IG inks.

If you peruse that Wikipedia list you'll see Salix spp in general listed as being a noted accumulator of a large variety of contaminants.

Maybe only the most badass conifers, some Salix and a few Ericaceae.

What about these very tiny artic trees, like salix herbacea?

Package manager is a package just like any other:) One is slapt-get [0], supports third party repos, resolves dependencies if you use it with repos that have dependency metadata, if you really really must:) Salix repos are a nice source of extra packages, and have dependency metadata.

Rohrer & Klingner iron gall inks (Salix and Scabiosa) are on my list as well...
