In Arabic language different dialects/variations have different punctuations and pronunciations which changes how a word is pronounced but not what the word is or what it means.

The interesting thing about Chinese is that, as I understand it, the same symbols can have different pronunciations in different dialects, but all pronunciations mean the same thing.

Text entry is a huge challenge for languages like Mandarin where glyphs can have multiple pronunciations and meanings depending on context.

These are completely different languages at least in tones and pronunciations.

Also, many of the "simplifications" are based on Mandarin pronunciations, and were quite incomprehensible to me as a Cantonese speaker when I set foot into mainland China for the first time years ago.

The main one to get is "tha" and "thi" which are various pronunciations of "thee." Archaiac pronouns, "thee," "thou" etc are still used in various english regional dialects.

I grew up saying and hearing a word a specific way for years of my life, then this audiobook professional reads it in a different way, but I have to accept him as the authority, since he's the official "reader", and I can only assume got the correct pronunciations from the author(s).
