The Principality of Hutt River in Australia is a micro nation in an interesting position.

Both Slavic peoples have a close and often intangible history, as far back as Kievan Rus' and the principality of Kiev.

Porus was small king of a minor principality( modern day equivalent of a district).

I tend to think of a republic as opposed to a principality (it's right there in the name, even!).

Land is a bit different; there is a fixed supply, and you are not sovereign over it (unless you're the prince of a principality).

It appears that I get my own little principality of which I sometimes seem supreme.

They were about as independent as the Principality of Sealand.

Personally, I would like my own country/principality (like Monaco or San Marino, maybe in the Caribbean) where everyone was involved in a software company, or services supporting software companies.

Although this is true, the rule of thumb has generally been that sites are governed by the rules of the principality where their servers reside, because it's the only effective or practical way to determine jurisdiction in a worldwide network.

Two possible reasons spring to mind: 1) this is the fault of public healthcare 2) this is because Romania was basically a Soviet principality for fifty years Perhaps you should try looking at, say, Canada if you don't want an comparison that was rigged from the beginning.

Your sales tax, highway tolls, certifications (state car inspection, state certifications to operate certain businesses, etc) and additional resource taxes (gas tax, tobacco tax) are going to your state, and your property / zoning taxes are going to your principality.

I don't know about the US, but in Australia post codes (our zip codes) regularly service more than one town (or principality) when you're rural, and if you're even vaguely familiar with Australia we have a lot of rural:) I've seen this handled quite well by a number of sites - you enter your post code and they'll just drop down a list of all the places it matches.

According to ISO, Wales is a Country[1], not a "Principality".

I've always understood democracy to refer to suffrage, limited or universal, while republic basically amounts to "not a principality" (which is not very descriptive).
