Where do you think the funding for the massive pork-barrel farm bills comes from?

Even with the best planning, there's still a good chance that some politician will point at the pork-barrel and fuck it all up.

This project is a dangerous, politically and socially irresponsible pork-barrel boondoggle that creates far more opportunities for crime and corruption than it prevents.

It's not about big government versus private industry, it's about private industry defended by lobbying and pork-barrel concessions versus private industry that doesn't have those things.

The tendency of a few states (including a handful of very small ones) to get disproportionate attention at the federal level (and sometimes accompanying pork-barrel policies) is a bug rather than a feature of the US system.

Certainly mickey mouse needs no further encouragement...extending DIS an ongoing franchise is pure and simple pork-barrel-politics to the governing class that relies on the media (eg, ABC a DIS subsidiary) to get elected (and/or the electoral votes of Florida).

I've lost count of how many times I've seen a bill pass congress with a whole heap of pork-barrel nonsense (subsidies to shady companies anyone?) because some senator has to do a kickback to the folks who paid for his/her election.

They did not stop to install fibre because the mayor didn’t get his pork-barrel, their cut over sales of new flats, or because models projected the installation would not be profitable if only x% of local users would switch to the Premium option: they built it, because internet access was good for everyone.

A lower level of traditional corruption, but many more forms of "legitimized" corruption (campaign finance, pork-barrel quid pro quo).

And yet, instead of raising prices, polls show we are looking to pass Prop 1, a terrible omnibus pork-barrel bill as our "solution" instead of just raising prices on water as should be happening.
