Many people in the US often don't even realise that Tylenol is the same thing as Panadol or acetaminophen.

You can buy you entire year's supply of panadol by simply shop-hopping through the main street.

That’s still way better than being told to take two Panadol and come back in the morning if your symptoms don’t improve.

Instead there's dozens and dozens of GSK's Panadol paracetamol (acetaminophen), some of which even next to a cash register as a throw in.

Looked into it and bought some and always take it when I drink or have panadol.

You could take 20 Panadol every few hours before getting sick.

I feel in NZ there's minimal drug advertising and when there is it's restricted to things like panadol and acid reflux stuff.

I'd always assumed Tylenol in the US was functionally equivalent to Panadol in Australia - ie, a brand name used in place of a drug name referring to the most common form of over-the-counter pain relief.

Or even, "I see they're out of my preferred brand, 'Tylenol', so I'd better grab the 'Panadol' brand instead."

This is like saying "Tylenol/Panadol is a painkiller and a fever reducer" without ever mentioning that it is a branded offering of the generic drug Acetaminophen/Paracetamol.

The 'Tylenol' brand at $10 a hundred, the 'Panadol' brand at $9.50 a hundred, or the local pack at $5?

The one that really surprises me that people take like candy is Tylenol/Panadol/Paracetamol/Acetaminophen.

Tylenol, Panadol, and quite a few other brand names are used worldwide¹.
