The Vive is quite a step up from the Oculus Rift DK2, and having played with it myself, that claim actually holds up pretty well.

None of my friends care about games that much, say nothing about even know what an Oculus Rift is.

This, plus a good phone, plus a good app, and it's almost Oculus Rift DK2 quality.

Anyone have a sense of how well this setup would do w/ an Oculus Rift?

My last gig was for 3Scan where I made a mouse-brain flying game for Oculus Rift using Unity.

The reason Oculus took so long to announce a consumer version was largely tied to the fact they hadn't solved the nausea problem.

I don't know but I bet Oculus would pay a lot of money for the rights to that algorithm).

Have you had a chance to try the Oculus developer kit at all?

Unity3d is almost certainly leading because of all of the oculus sponsorships.

The more advanced edition will come with Oculus Rift VR.

Good thing he's saying it out loud, but for those who think actions speak louder than words, it was clear enough when he decided to buy Oculus VR for $2bn.

That also makes me wonder how the first gen of sales will go, since Oculus is only shipping with an Xbox controller, dividing us devs on input solutions to target and limiting our options in VR quite heavily at first.

Facebook might be in this for the long haul, esp with the stuff they can also do with Oculus.

Oculus and Vive have both done extensive testing on nausea and few report it on the new consumer versions.

Oculus, Sony's Morpheus, Microsoft's Hololens- these are all just the next step in the VR/AR movement.
