Is it really that much harder to spend five minutes doing a nice render in Modo or something?

Their biggest competition Modo is not a complete enough package to be used by major studios.

However of those working with 3D assets the majority of them are working with Blender or Modo with Unity and Unreal as the primary engines.

Car2go and Modo member (the co-op equiv of Zipcar).

Somewhere between (car2go/modo/etc) and taxis and busses.

I don't know anyone who uses Modo for animation (its animation tools are very opinionated/idiosyncratic in their approach) and Blender doesn't have much uptake outside of hobbyists.

For hard surface modeling, Modo is the best in class and it just got better with built-in Mesh Fusion in 901, but many people raised on Max and Maya stick to what they know.

I used to be into modo as a hobbyist and this reminds me of the Telematics City showreel which for me was a true work of art (also from 2009).

Nuke, smoke, flame, faire, maya, modo, baselight, resolve are all on linux.

Autodesk is not a "nice" company to deal with - but well, The Foundry is not nicer with Modo/Mari for Indie, so well.

What is listed as "Foundry Modo" is actually a different product called Katana by The Foundry.

Modo is great for longer terms errands, like a trip to Ikea, where you return where you started.

They're keen on the sharing 'economy' - including a home-grown car-share company called Modo.
