If anyone here is interested in the topic I can really recommend the survival courses run by Ray Mears company called Woodlore.

Has happened to me multiple times in Orlando to the point where I’ll just call a Mears taxi instead - ends up being cheaper anyways.

I've never split more than a couple dozen logs in my life but Ray Mears teached me to wedge the blade to the side on impact.

Of course, UberX drivers are still out there saving people money over the virtual monopoly held there by big cab companies like Mears.

My fellow Americans please do not hold this post against Ray Mears.

The BBC/Ray Mears "Real Heroes of Telemark" is fairly good, and you most definitely get an idea of how tough the guys involved were.

Sadly, it's not immediately apparent how to turn any of this into a paying 'career' - unless your name's Ray Mears, of course, or you're prepared to do it full-time and become a hermit (tempting, sometimes, I know...).
