I thought that was the machine behind some Prince tunes, but it's a Linn LM-1 not a TR808.

Less old, and a little less british: the linn rekursiv was an odd case.

It's good to hear Linn has her stuff back but this doesn't guarantee future situations like this would have similar good endings.

I appreciate if other kindle owners can do the same to help Linn and for the greater good.

I wonder whether this is related to Linn living in Norway, purchasing from Amazon.com and somehow Amazon.co.uk are getting in the middle, perhaps because they run Europe from there.

After all, the 808 wasn't designed with emulating real drum sounds as its primary goal--the Linn LM-1 drum machine, which was released a few months before the 808, literally emulated drums via digital samples of recorded drums.

So they have no incentive to get out of their way to bug DRM-stripping customers (in light of which, I'd guess some of the morons who handled Linn Nygaard's case will be fired, and deservedly so).

Roger Linn used to have a great demo on his page showing him playing a prototype Linnstrument using only a sawtooth wave with a lowpass filter, and it sounded more expressive than many top of the line physical modeling synths, because the dimensions of control were so impactful.

With that being said, I think a more probable reason for its lasting popularity has less to do with the machine's ability to capture the essence of percussion and more to do with circumstance: the 808 was affordable ($1,195 versus $5,000 for the Linn LM-1) to the historically impoverished youth who birthed the global cultural/musical phenomenon we know as hip-hop.

Would be great to see a "tap bpm" instead of setting numerically, also a way to run offline, and lastly a way to submit drum covers of popular tracks that used say the Linn 9000 and TR-808 drum machines - with those sounds available!

I'm impressed as well, but there are errors like: "e-bokgiganten" (the e-book giant), "type IT consultant Linn.." (wrote the IT consultant..) and I don't think "Spread Monday blog post" is correct either?

Linn might not like this, she should fight (infinite, broad) copyright which is the root of all this evil, not Amazon.
