Obviously the Kashmir is used by Pakistan as a way to destabilize its opponent (they don't particularly care about Kashmiri emancipation lol).

Kashmir was relatively peaceful until the insurgency (financed and supported by Pakistan) started in '89, which also altered the ethnic makeup of the valley when Kashmiri Pandits were expelled.

I am very aware the full history of the region is murky and that the removal of Kashmiri Pandits from the region led to the current broad swath of support for Kashmiri independence (or becoming a part of Pakistan, either way being separate from India), but the current situation is what it is, and until that is resolved it will continue to be an issue in India.

But still, I hope you realize that what India sees as terrorism in this case (which means Kashmiri separatism, which again I agree is mostly a Pakistani funded thing) is very tied to Indian nationalism.

That Punjab and Mughlai trendline can be attributed to that reason - Kashmiri Mirch is a staple in both styles of cooking now, but if you look at "pind style" cooking, it's way less spicy.
